How to paste lines from Excel into an invoice, bill or journal

Copy the rows in your sheet, paste them into the document and say what each column is. Arabic digits, thousands separators and currency signs are read as numbers.

Steps

  1. Open the draft

Open a draft invoice, bill or manual journal and choose Paste from a sheet beside its lines.

  2. Paste and map columns

Paste the copied rows, tick The first row is headings if it is, and choose what each column is: Item code or name, Description, Quantity, Price, Discount %, Tax code, or for a journal Account, Debit and Credit.

  3. Check each row

Each row shows Ready or what is wrong with it. For an item the catalogue does not have, choose Create the item, Add as a line without an item, or Skip this row.

  4. Add the rows

Choose Add, with the number of rows it will add. The lines join the ones already there, and the column mapping is remembered for the next sheet of the same width.
