Hours in, hours out, overtime and absence
An attendance sheet (كشف حضور وانصراف) records, per employee and day, the time in, the time out, the hours worked, the overtime hours and the status (present, absent, sick leave, annual leave), with the employee's signature. Its monthly totals feed the pay run: overtime paid at the Labour Law's rate, absences deducted, leave days charged to the balance. Where a biometric clock exists, the sheet is its printout; where it does not, the sheet is the record.
- The period and the department, and the company name.
- Per line: date, employee, in, out, hours, overtime, status, signature.
- Totals of hours and overtime, and who prepared and approved the sheet.
The Labour Law's numbers
Normal hours are eight a day or forty-eight a week, reduced to six a day or thirty-six a week for Muslim employees in Ramadan. Overtime is paid at the hourly wage plus fifty percent of the basic hourly wage, where the hourly wage is the monthly wage over thirty days and eight hours (240 hours). Hours on a weekly rest day or a public holiday are overtime. The sample shows one employee at eight hours, one at eight plus two overtime, and one on sick leave.
On 8,000.00 basic, the basic hourly wage is 33.33 and an overtime hour is 50.00; two hours are 100.00 on the payslip.
| Hourly wage | 8,000 ÷ 240 = 33.33 |
|---|---|
| Overtime hour (150%) | 50.00 |
| 2 hours overtime | 100.00 |
