Meaning
GOSI (التأمينات الاجتماعية) is the General Organization for Social Insurance, and the contributions are what every employer pays it monthly for each employee. The base is basic salary plus housing allowance, or the value of housing provided, with a floor of SAR 1,500 and a ceiling of SAR 45,000 a month. For a Saudi employee the employee pays 9.75 percent (9 to the pension branch, 0.75 to unemployment insurance, SANED) and the employer 11.75 (9 plus 0.75 plus 2 for occupational hazards). For a non-Saudi the employer pays 2 percent for occupational hazards and the employee nothing.
The 2024 Social Insurance Law moved new Saudi entrants to a schedule that rises in steps of half a percent a year, employee and employer each, to eleven percent. Contributions are due by the fifteenth of the following month; the payslip shows the employee's share only.

Example
A Saudi accountant on 8,000.00 basic and 2,000.00 housing has a GOSI base of 10,000.00. 975.00 is deducted from the payslip; the employer pays a further 1,175.00. The expatriate at the next desk on the same package costs the employer 200.00 and has no deduction.
