A pay band for every grade
A salary scale (سلم رواتب) is the company's own table of grades: for each grade a job family, a minimum and maximum basic salary, the housing allowance as a share of basic, and the transport allowance. Every offer, raise and promotion then lands inside a published range, which is what keeps pay consistent between people doing the same work and defensible when someone asks why a colleague earns more.
The Labour Law sets no grades and no scale. What it sets is the minimum wage counted for Saudization (SAR 4,000 for a full Saudi employee in the Nitaqat count), the rule that allowances follow the contract, and the GOSI base of basic plus housing. The scale is policy, so the sheet carries an effective date and a reference, and the HR manager and the general manager sign it.
- Grade and the job titles that belong to it.
- Basic salary: the band's minimum and maximum.
- Housing allowance as a percentage of basic (25 percent is the common private-sector figure; some contracts use 2 or 3 months' basic a year).
- Transport allowance as a fixed monthly amount.
- Total: the band's ends with housing and transport added, so a candidate's package is readable at a glance.
The sample's arithmetic
Grade 2, an accountant: basic 6,000 to 9,000, housing 25 percent, transport 500. The total at the minimum is 6,000 + 1,500 + 500 = 8,000; at the maximum 9,000 + 2,250 + 500 = 11,750. GOSI for a Saudi employee at the top of the band is 9.75 percent of 11,250 (basic plus housing), 1,096.88 a month from the employee and 11.75 percent, 1,321.88, from the employer.
| Grade 2 minimum package | 8,000.00 |
|---|---|
| Grade 2 maximum package | 11,750.00 |
| GOSI employee share at the maximum | 1,096.88 |
| GOSI employer share at the maximum | 1,321.88 |
