National address (Saudi Arabia)

The address Saudi Post (SPL) gives every building: building number, street, district, city, postal code and additional number.

In Arabic: العنوان الوطني

Meaning

The national address (العنوان الوطني) is the address system of Saudi Post (SPL): every building in the Kingdom has one, made of six parts. The building number (4 digits) goes with the street name; the additional number (4 digits) goes with the district; then the city and the postal code (5 digits). The additional number gives the building's precise location, which a street name alone does not.

The short address turns all six parts into one code of four letters and four digits, easy to remember and to give over the phone. SPL's own example is RAGI2929, for 2929 Rayhanah Bint Zaid, 8118 Al Arid district, Riyadh 13337. On a document the address is written in full; the short address is for finding it.

Individuals register their national address with SPL free; businesses pay a fee set by SPL, online or in SPL's app. For a business the address matters beyond deliveries: a tax invoice carries the seller's address, a standard (business to business) invoice the buyer's too, and in ZATCA's Phase 2 each part travels as its own field in the invoice's XML.

Example

Al Noor Trading Est.'s address is building 2929, King Fahd Road, additional number 8118, Al Olaya district, Riyadh 12211. Its invoices print all six parts, and each one is sent to ZATCA as its own field when the invoice is cleared or reported.
