Business in Muharraq, and the part Aqid ERP plays

Muharraq Governorate is Bahrain's gateway: Bahrain International Airport and the airlines and ground-handling firms there, the Hidd industrial area and Bahrain International Investment Park, and Khalifa Bin Salman Port, with the freight forwarders, warehouses and traders that work between them.

Their books turn on stock in several places, goods landed and sold locally or re-exported, freight services invoiced in dinars and dollars, and a payroll with SIO. Aqid ERP keeps those from one ledger; duty-free and bonded stock stay with your customs broker's records.

How a business in Muharraq runs on Aqid ERP

A stock account per warehouse

Each warehouse carries its own inventory account; receive, move, sell or count, and the stock value and cost of sales move with it at weighted average.

Local and export sales apart

A local invoice carries 10% VAT and an export or re-export one the zero rate your adviser confirms; the NBR return keeps them in their own boxes.

Purchases matched to landed goods

The supplier's bill, the freight and the clearing charges posted against the order; approvals above your limit before the order is placed.

Payroll with SIO

Monthly payroll for warehouse and airport staff with shift allowances, SIO contributions, leaving indemnity under Article 116 and bilingual payslips.

A month at a logistics and trading company in Muharraq (example)

  1. Say a logistics and trading company in Muharraq invoices BHD 240,000.000 of goods delivered and freight services in October, all at the standard rate. That is BHD 24,000.000 VAT, BHD 264,000.000 in total, on VAT invoices issued from Aqid ERP with your VAT account number.
  2. A supplier bills BHD 150,000.000 plus BHD 15,000.000 VAT for a container of goods landed at the port, posted against a purchase order and tagged to the airport warehouse.
  3. Payroll for 31 staff runs with SIO contributions and leaving indemnity accrued under Article 116 of the Labour Law, and its cost is posted to the books from the same run.
  4. The VAT return shows BHD 24,000.000 output VAT and BHD 15,000.000 input VAT, so BHD 9,000.000 to pay before any other purchases. Each box opens to the invoices and bills behind it.
  5. These figures only show the arithmetic. How VAT applies to your supplies is for your tax adviser, set up before you start invoicing.

The rules in Bahrain, and what Aqid ERP does with them

VAT: the standard rate is 10%, with exports and some supplies zero-rated as the law allows. The NBR return is prepared from the books and every figure opens to the invoices and bills behind it; that layout has not yet been checked against the NBR portal, and filing stays with you or your adviser.

Money: the dinar is divided into 1,000 fils, and Aqid ERP keeps three decimals on every document, in every report and in the ledger.

E-invoicing: no mandate applies in Bahrain. VAT invoices and credit notes carry your VAT account number and go out as PDF with a QR code.

Payroll: SIO contributions, leaving indemnity accrued under Article 116 of the Labour Law, leave and claims, and payslips in Arabic and English. The LMRA's Wage Protection System salary file is not produced yet; the bank's template is filled from the pay run's figures.
