Business in Manama, and the part Aqid ERP plays

Manama is the Gulf's oldest financial centre: the banks and insurers at the Bahrain Financial Harbour and Diplomatic Area, the fintechs licensed by the Central Bank, and the law, audit, consulting and training firms that serve them and the region.

Their books carry the dinar in three decimals, a 10% VAT return for the National Bureau for Revenue, SIO contributions for all staff and leaving indemnity under Article 116 for expatriates. Aqid ERP keeps those from one ledger and reads a group of companies together.

How a business in Manama runs on Aqid ERP

Dinars to the fil

Every amount is kept and rounded to three decimals, on the invoice, in the ledger and on the statements.

The 10% return from the books

Standard-rated, zero-rated and exempt supplies kept apart on each invoice, and the NBR return prepared from them with each box opening to its documents; filing is yours.

SIO and leaving indemnity

Monthly payroll with SIO contributions, leaving indemnity accrued under Article 116, leave, loans and bilingual payslips.

Several companies, one login

Each company with its own books and return, read together in consolidated statements with the intercompany balances shown.

A month at a consulting firm in Manama (example)

  1. Say a consulting firm in Manama invoices BHD 150,000.000 of advisory and training services in October, all at the standard rate. That is BHD 15,000.000 VAT, BHD 165,000.000 in total, on VAT invoices issued from Aqid ERP with your VAT account number.
  2. A supplier bills BHD 36,000.000 plus BHD 3,600.000 VAT for office rent and software, posted against a purchase order and tagged to the Bahrain office.
  3. Payroll for 22 staff runs with SIO contributions and leaving indemnity accrued under Article 116 of the Labour Law, and its cost is posted to the books from the same run.
  4. The VAT return shows BHD 15,000.000 output VAT and BHD 3,600.000 input VAT, so BHD 11,400.000 to pay before any other purchases. Each box opens to the invoices and bills behind it.
  5. These figures only show the arithmetic. How VAT applies to your supplies is for your tax adviser, set up before you start invoicing.

The rules in Bahrain, and what Aqid ERP does with them

VAT: the standard rate is 10%, with exports and some supplies zero-rated as the law allows. The NBR return is prepared from the books and every figure opens to the invoices and bills behind it; that layout has not yet been checked against the NBR portal, and filing stays with you or your adviser.

Money: the dinar is divided into 1,000 fils, and Aqid ERP keeps three decimals on every document, in every report and in the ledger.

E-invoicing: no mandate applies in Bahrain. VAT invoices and credit notes carry your VAT account number and go out as PDF with a QR code.

Payroll: SIO contributions, leaving indemnity accrued under Article 116 of the Labour Law, leave and claims, and payslips in Arabic and English. The LMRA's Wage Protection System salary file is not produced yet; the bank's template is filled from the pay run's figures.

Questions

Does Aqid ERP clear invoices with the NBR in Bahrain?

There is no clearance to do: Bahrain has no e-invoicing mandate yet. Aqid ERP issues the tax invoice with the fields the NBR requires and prepares the 10% return from the books; you file it on the NBR portal.

Does Aqid ERP prepare the NBR VAT return?

Does it run Bahraini payroll?

Monthly payroll in BHD to three decimals with SIO contributions, leaving indemnity under Article 116, leave and claims, and bilingual payslips. The WPS salary file your bank asks for is not produced yet; the run gives you each employee's net pay and IBAN.
