Tags on every line
Projects, cost centres and branches go on invoice, bill, expense and journal lines.
Tag each line to a project, a cost centre or a branch as you work. The reports split by that tag, so profit by job is a filter, not a spreadsheet.

A job's labour cost here is more than salaries. For each Kuwaiti on the team the employer adds its PIFSS share, 11.5% of pay below KWD 1,500, and for every worker, Kuwaiti or expatriate, the article 51 indemnity accrues month by month. Tag the payroll journal lines to the project and both appear in its profit and loss beside the invoices and bills, to three decimals. Projects are reporting tags, though: there are no timesheets, budgets or percentage-of-completion billing yet.
