WPS (UAE Wage Protection System)

MOHRE's system for paying private-sector wages; since 2026 the previous month's wages fall due on the 1st.

In Arabic: نظام حماية الأجور في الإمارات

Meaning

The Wage Protection System (نظام حماية الأجور) is how the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation sees that private-sector wages are paid. Every establishment registered with MOHRE pays its employees through it: the employer sends a salary information file and the funds to an agent approved for WPS transfers, a bank or an exchange house, which pays each employee and reports the payment to the ministry.

Under Ministerial Resolution No. 340 of 2026 the previous month's wages are due on the first day of each Gregorian month, and the ministry's graduated measures start on the second day after: alerts, notifications and monitoring, rising with the length of the delay. The old rule that treated wages as late only after fifteen days belonged to the resolutions it replaced.

Example

Al Noor Trading LLC runs October's payroll on 28 October, exports each employee's net pay into its bank's SIF format and funds the transfer, so that 42 salaries reach the employees' accounts on 1 November, the day they fall due.
