Business in Dubai, and the part Aqid ERP plays

Dubai is the Gulf's trading and services hub: free zones such as JAFZA, DMCC and DIFC beside the mainland, re-export through the port and the airport, retail, and professional services of every kind, much of it in dollars, euros and dirhams at once.

The accounting question is usually two companies and two tax treatments: a free-zone entity whose qualifying income your adviser assesses, and a mainland entity taxed at 9% above AED 375,000, both VAT-registered. Aqid ERP keeps them as separate companies, each with its own return and estimate, and reads the group together.

How a business in Dubai runs on Aqid ERP

Free zone and mainland apart

Each entity is its own company with its own chart, VAT return and corporate tax estimate; consolidated statements read them together with the intercompany balances shown.

Invoices in any currency

Sell in dollars or euros, keep the books in dirhams: each invoice carries its rate, and the realised and unrealised differences are posted for you.

The corporate tax estimate

From the IFRS for SMEs statements kept as you work, the 9% estimate above AED 375,000 and Small Business Relief recorded; whether free-zone income qualifies is your adviser's call.

WPS for both companies

Each company's pay run produces its own MoHRE SIF file, with end of service accrued and bilingual payslips.

A month at a trading company in Dubai (example)

  1. Say a trading company in Dubai invoices AED 900,000.00 of goods re-exported and sold locally in October, all at the standard rate. That is AED 45,000.00 VAT, AED 945,000.00 in total, on tax invoices issued from Aqid ERP.
  2. A supplier bills AED 260,000.00 plus AED 13,000.00 VAT for warehouse rent and freight, posted against a purchase order and tagged to the free-zone company.
  3. Payroll for 28 staff runs with a WPS salary file in the MoHRE SIF layout and end-of-service accruals, and its cost is posted to the books from the same run.
  4. The VAT return shows AED 45,000.00 output VAT and AED 13,000.00 input VAT, so AED 32,000.00 to pay before any other purchases. Each box opens to the invoices and bills behind it.
  5. These figures only show the arithmetic. How VAT applies to your supplies is for your tax adviser, set up before you start invoicing.

The rules in the UAE, and what Aqid ERP does with them

VAT: the standard rate is 5%. The return is prepared from the books in the FTA's layout and every figure opens to the invoices and bills behind it; that layout has not yet been checked against the EmaraTax portal, and filing stays with you or your adviser.

Corporate tax: 9% on taxable income above AED 375,000. Aqid ERP keeps the IFRS for SMEs statements the return starts from, computes the UAE estimate and records Small Business Relief; whether income is qualifying free-zone income is your adviser's call, and no return is filed.

E-invoicing: the UAE's mandate (2027) runs through accredited service providers. Aqid ERP prepares the signed PINT AE invoice; its connection to a provider is in progress and not yet live.

Payroll: a WPS salary information file in the MoHRE SIF layout, end-of-service accruals under the labour law and payslips in Arabic and English. The UAE pension for national employees is not yet in the table, and no bank has yet accepted an Aqid ERP file.

Questions

Can Aqid ERP keep a Dubai free-zone company and a mainland company in one account?

Yes, as two companies under one login, each with its own VAT return and corporate tax estimate, read together in consolidated statements. Whether the free-zone company's income is qualifying income is for your adviser; Aqid ERP records the estimate you agree.

Does Aqid ERP compute UAE corporate tax?

As an estimate: 9% above AED 375,000, with Small Business Relief recorded, from the statements it keeps as you work. It files no return, and whether free-zone income qualifies is for your adviser.

Does it produce the WPS file?

Yes, a salary information file in the MoHRE SIF layout from each pay run, with end of service accrued and bilingual payslips. No bank has yet accepted an Aqid ERP file, so have the first one checked by your bank or exchange house.
