Business in Abu Dhabi, and the part Aqid ERP plays

Abu Dhabi is the capital and the seat of the federal government, the emirate's own entities and the energy companies. Contractors, facilities-management and service firms, consultancies and suppliers work on their contracts, often with hundreds of staff and a client who expects audited accounts.

Their books are project books that end in an audit: every cost tagged to a contract, retention held on certified invoices, the VAT return and the corporate tax estimate prepared from the same ledger, and a large WPS payroll every month. Aqid ERP does those and keeps the statements an auditor starts from.

How a business in Abu Dhabi runs on Aqid ERP

Contracts with retention

Each contract carries a budget and a percentage complete; certified invoices hold the retention back, and the profit and loss by project shows the margin before the contract ends.

Statements an auditor can start from

Profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow and changes in equity in the IFRS for SMEs set, kept as you work, with locked periods and an audit trail that shows any change.

Large WPS payroll

Payroll for hundreds of staff with site allowances, overtime and claims, the MoHRE SIF file from each run, end of service accrued and bilingual payslips.

VAT and corporate tax from one ledger

The VAT return in the FTA's layout and the 9% corporate tax estimate above AED 375,000 are both prepared from the books you post.

A month at a facilities contractor in Abu Dhabi (example)

  1. Say a facilities contractor in Abu Dhabi invoices AED 1,800,000.00 of maintenance services certified in October, all at the standard rate. That is AED 90,000.00 VAT, AED 1,890,000.00 in total, on tax invoices issued from Aqid ERP.
  2. A supplier bills AED 540,000.00 plus AED 27,000.00 VAT for subcontracted cleaning crews, posted against a purchase order and tagged to the government-building contract.
  3. Payroll for 95 staff runs with a WPS salary file in the MoHRE SIF layout and end-of-service accruals, and its cost is posted to the books from the same run.
  4. The VAT return shows AED 90,000.00 output VAT and AED 27,000.00 input VAT, so AED 63,000.00 to pay before any other purchases. Each box opens to the invoices and bills behind it.
  5. These figures only show the arithmetic. How VAT applies to your supplies is for your tax adviser, set up before you start invoicing.

The rules in the UAE, and what Aqid ERP does with them

VAT: the standard rate is 5%. The return is prepared from the books in the FTA's layout and every figure opens to the invoices and bills behind it; that layout has not yet been checked against the EmaraTax portal, and filing stays with you or your adviser.

Corporate tax: 9% on taxable income above AED 375,000. Aqid ERP keeps the IFRS for SMEs statements the return starts from, computes the UAE estimate and records Small Business Relief; whether income is qualifying free-zone income is your adviser's call, and no return is filed.

E-invoicing: the UAE's mandate (2027) runs through accredited service providers. Aqid ERP prepares the signed PINT AE invoice; its connection to a provider is in progress and not yet live.

Payroll: a WPS salary information file in the MoHRE SIF layout, end-of-service accruals under the labour law and payslips in Arabic and English. The UAE pension for national employees is not yet in the table, and no bank has yet accepted an Aqid ERP file.
